Description

Media Use as Social Action presents a recently developed research perspective which conceives of 'media use' as 'social action' in a comprehensive manner.
Media Use as Social Action offers a collection of recent theoretical and empirical research papers. It contributes not only to the stimulating and critical discussion of the 'media use as social action' or MASA approach, but will help to re-open and renew debate throughout the community of scholars concerned with how audiences make use of the media. The empirical studies presented in this book allow readers to assess the potential of the 'media use as social action' approach for understanding audience activity, and to consider its application in other contextual and national settings.
